Who is Maria C. Widman?​

On a mission to find the ideal venue for the Black Women Empowerment March in the heart of San Diego's vibrant Arts & Culture district, we were inspired to select the Marie C. Widman Memorial Park.

Concluding our empowering march at this park allowed us to celebrate Marie C. Widman's remarkable legacy. Together, we gathered to enlighten Black women and girls about her groundbreaking contributions to San Diego, so that her trailblazing spirit continues to inspire future generations.
